Ahlstrom, a global manufacturer of sustainable specialty materials, announced that its HemaSep cards for the collection and preservation of biological samples have achieved the CE Declaration of Conformity under the European In-Vitro Diagnostics Regulation (IVDR).

This certificate confirms that Ahlstrom’s HemaSep cards meet all applicable EU safety, health and performance requirements, ensuring their quality and reliability for use in diagnostic and research applications across Europe.

The Ahlstrom HemaSep Collection Card is a premium blood collection tool designed for reliable sample handling and optimal laboratory analysis. Engineered with Ahlstrom’s advanced filtration technology, HemaSep cards provide superior sample stability, and consistent results, making them ideal for clinical diagnostics, research studies and at-home sample collection programs. Leveraging Ahlstrom’s advanced fiber-based technology, the cards enable dry sample storage and transport, maintaining sample integrity without the need for refrigeration — a key advantage for remote collection and biobanking applications.

“Declaring CE Conformity is an important milestone for our HemaSep platform,” says Tamara Quatrano, VP Lab & Life Science at Ahlstrom. “It reinforces our commitment to supporting the life sciences community with innovative and sustainable sample collection solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.”

The HemaSep technology offers a simple, user-friendly method for biological sample collection. Its approach enhances sample stability and supports downstream analytical workflows.

With the CE mark, Ahlstrom is expanding access to its HemaSep cards throughout the European market, empowering laboratories, biobanks and research institutions to advance diagnostics, epidemiological studies and decentralized healthcare initiatives.
